Baby Clothes
Ah, baby clothes! Cute little Baby Pajamas with feet. Little hats and tiny Baby Socks. Diaper Covers and an entire Baby Layette of onesies, and nightshirts. In choosing baby clothes, as in raising a baby, you need to be both practical and sentimental. You need a lot of easy-to-wash clothes that baby can be gotten into and out of without unnecessary fuss. You're looking at around ten diaper changes a day at the start, not to mention at least three changes of clothes for reasons of messiness or temperature.
But you (and your doting relatives) also need some of the cutest clothes in the world for what is undoubtedly, according to all of you, the cutest, sweetest, most amazing baby in the world. Of course, babies don't mind what they're wearing, as long as it's comfortable and clean. If you have a good supply of doting relatives and friends, you can leave the selection of the fancy baby clothes to them and wait to see what kinds of Baby Gifts you receive. Or you can choose the baby outfits of your dreams and enjoy dressing up and showing off your baby (one of the great privileges of parenthood).
You'll be surprised at how fast your baby grows and how much time you spend trying to keep up. Some babies spend almost no time in 0-3 months clothes, so don't stock up on too many baby clothes of the smallest sizes if you think your baby will be average size or larger. And matching the right size clothes with the appropriate season can be maddening. Someone is sure to give you a beautiful sweater that won't fit by the time it's cold enough to wear it. For this reason, a good rule of thumb is to use it before you lose the use of it! Don't save that beautiful 9-month outfit for a special occasion or you may find that it never gets worn before it's outgrown. Seize the moment-enjoy it before it's gone. That's a good rule for parents in general, not just applied to baby clothes.
